I was reading a leadership blog the other day and came across some of this information. I think it was one of Andy Stanley's blog's but I'm not sure. Sometimes I feel like I get lost in blog world but here is what I was challenged with.

There was a line in Top Gun, where he talks about breaking a major rule of engagement. "You NEVER leave your wing-man." That is just one of those rules you don't break. Well, I have this standing rule that I typically refuse to break. However, today I did. Dang it!! I hate when I do that. It's simple, there are 3 sides to every story... your side, their side, and the TRUTH. Typically when I'm giving someone advice or listening to their story, I never react or give advice based on one side of the story. There is always another side and typically that side is just as jaded as the other. See the problem is... people perceive things differently! Lets put it this way... perception is reality... UNTIL INTERRUPTED BY FACT! The fact part is typically the truth that is rarely experienced because people are to busy giving others advice based on one side of the story. I am typically soooo good at waiting to hear or being aware of, the different sides of a story, but I really blew it today. I'm such a freaking rookie sometimes. There is nothing more powerful then to sit two people down and hear each side of the story and then help THEM see the TRUTH in what is really going on. I think the enemy really uses relationships to divide people. I know he uses people who mean well but only take sides when they should serious consider all sides. It's our responsibility to help people discover the TRUTH of what really happened and what needs to change. Anyway, I blew it today, but it was a good reminder that I must continue to stay neutral and advise people based on the truth not someone's perception of that truth. Ugh... does that make sense?

I did a wedding today and like most weddings, 1 Corinthians 13 was read. There is a lot in that chapter to take in but something about it today jumped out at me. "Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror, then we shall see face to face. Sometimes I think we get so frustrated at our view of life because we are not seeing it clearly. We are seeing it like a poor reflection as in a mirror. The imagery here is of a polished metal [probably bronze] mirror in which someone would only recieve an imperfect reflection. With a face to face encounter we see so much clearer. We are promised that one day we get to experience that clarity but are never promised here on earth that kind of clarity. Yeah, we see glimpses of His greatness and His majesty and His mercy and the list goes on, but we will never "fully" see until we stand before Him. Sometimes we get frustrated with the unknown when that lack of clarity should remind us of who He is. How big he is. How CAPABLE He is to bring us through. Maybe the lack of clarity keeps us relying on Him instead of our own understanding. I guess I am being challenged to embrace the mystery of my God that is seen everyday in my life and others, knowing I may not always know or understand what is happening or why it is happening but that God is revealing Himself in so many ways that only scratch the service of who he is. Think about it...

Well, I thought I would attempt this whole blogging thing again. I think I had unrealistic expectations the first time. My plan was to blog each day, different thoughts and experiences I encounter on a given day. Well as you can see that didn't happen. Besides who wants to waste time reading random things I'm thinking or experiencing each day. My goal this round is to simply sit down every Monday and share some ideas. If you choose to come along on this journey with me that is awesome. I do not want to arrogantly assume that anything I share here will radically change or touch your life. I can't even say that is my intension for blogging. I think I simply desire a place I can "get away" for a few moments in cyber world and express some thoughts and ideas that we seldom get to talk about. So here are some things I will be sharing my opinion and thoughts on: Relational Stewardship. God Talk - Where Is It? The Disease of Self - Part 2 among other interesting topics. Well if anything it sounds exciting to me. Enjoy your day and maybe we will encounter each other again next Monday.
